Montreal Prenatal Classes
Building confidence for birth and parenthood
Building confidence for birth and parenthood
Are you wanting to step into birth with confidence and gusto?
Do you want your partner to feel prepared to support you in labour?
Do you want to practice pain coping techniques before the big day?
Is being able to advocate with ease important to you?
Want to learn about birth in a way that isn’t boring?
English prenatal classes in Montreal to help you and your partner/support navigate the expected and unexpected of birth and early parenthood.
Information isn’t useful if we can’t access it in labour. That’s why engaging experiential prep is important. Hands-on practices, metaphors and story are on the menu.
Practical tips, pain coping practices, communication & advocacy skills help foster confidence for birth and beyond. Partners and support people, let’s help you shine!
I teach what the evidence can tell us and where it falls flat. This won’t always be how you make decisions and it can be important to have credible information and not fearmongering (TikTok I am looking at you!)
Go deeper than information to create lasting impressions and connection. What does it mean to become a parent? Classes give you the space to start reflecting on what is important to your family (not mine or your neightbor’s).
1. Three classes (8 hours of live teaching): A 4 hour in person class sandwiched between two live virtual sessions of 2 hours each (see below for dates)
2. Access to bonus prerecorded videos for going deeper on:
3. Space to ask questions about all topics including the bonus prerecorded videos. Classes are intentionally small to allow time for questions and sharing.
4. Additional resources about birth, baby and postpartum such as packing list, mini-birth guide, birth plan, postpartum plan, breastfeeding support resources.
Classes are in English and are hybrid: part in person and part virtual. Three classes are included in one session, you should be available for all three.

I am a birth doula, birth story listener and facilitator in Montreal. I am also the mother of two boys and hold a doctorate in Biology (a third baby of sorts!). My birth philosophy bridges the science and sacred of birth and parenthood.
I have taught hundreds of families since 2018 about birth, babies and the important hurdles birth asks us to overcome. I teach from a place of compassion and connection.
Yes my classes are in English.
Most people take my prenatal classes in their third trimester, around 30/32 weeks, aiming to be done your last class before you are 37 weeks.
Both! Four hours in person and two sessions of 2 hours each done virtually (while maintaining my commitment to be engaging!). I am also including access to prerecorded videos on topics like interventions, breastfeeding and baby care so you can go deeper if you wish. There will be time to ask questions about those videos in our final session together.
In person class will be at 10 Ave des Pins O, Montréal, QC H2W 1N3 and the first and last classes are on Zoom.
No. The virtual classes require you to be present, this is because you will get the most out of it and they are important for our class in person. The only recordings will be the bonus prerecorded material on interventions, breastfeeding & baby care that you can explore at your own pace.
Absolutely! Pain coping practices are important no matter what your birth plan is. (Importantly you can’t get the epidural from the first contraction, the epidural doesn’t always work 100% and there are other types of discomfort during labour that the epidural may not cover, so it’s wise to have other tools!)
Absolutely! I have worked alongside midwives for years at births in people’s homes and at the maisons de naissance. This prep also includes chatting through the tougher stuff like changes in birth plans.
Yes. Bring whoever is going to be supporting you in labour: a friend or a family member. Even if your support person has experienced birth, it’s important for both of you to practice pain coping and communication before the big day.
A lot. For one, some classes only spend a couple of hours on birth and I don’t think that is enough to scratch the surface.
My classes also have a strong emphasis on communication, advocacy and pain coping practices. I draw from my years of experience supporting births in all locations and my work as a birth story listener helping people process their challenging births.
I am not trying to sell you anything in my classes, promotional material disguised as prenatal classes is becoming more common. Nor am I trying to teach you how to be a good patient.
I want you to feel ready to step into whatever birth and parenthood throws your way and sometimes the best way to do that is not through straight up information. We will use story, metaphor and other practices alongside information to foster confidence.
Yes, I can teach you in your home or virtually, get in touch for my availability and pricing. If you are interested in this option don’t delay because my schedule fills up.
